Syracuse has a history with indoor soccer. The Syracuse Silver Knights played in the city from 2011 to 2018 before the franchise moved to Utica. The Syracuse Knights bring that tradition home as a MASL 3 team for the 2026–27 season.

The Knights are led by Chris Pelligra, a Marcellus native and former SUNY Oswego player, with coaching experience at Fowler and Liverpool high schools and Auburn City FC. He has also run a youth training program at NY Soccer Central for 30 years.

The Syracuse Knights are a MASL 3 affiliate of Utica City FC. Several UCFC staff are former Silver Knights, including GM Tommy Tanner, player personnel director Joey Tavernese, head coach Nate Bourdeau, and assistant coach Darren Toby. Standout players can be pulled up to the Utica City FC first team.
